‍ ‍Many years ago, Jean started using Acrylic for nail extensions, but she was not pleased with the method. So, as nails where very popular in America, Jean flew off and met up with several training schools, and nail suppliers, but all were manufacturing and suppling acrylics.

On her return she decided to pursue this situation further and arranged meetings with manufacturers of dental supplies, dentists where using  a filling on the tooth that was cured by ultra violet light equipment so Jean decided to adapt this method from the tooth to the nail and the manufacturers and Jean sampled and tested many different gels until Jean was totally satisfied with the results, Jean then designed and manufactured a two handed ultra violet light curing machine for her gel which she patented to Fancy Fingers.

With the ultraviolet machine and her own gel Jean was ready to step into the beauty world introducing the system to beauty therapists and she then set up a sales force of girls who demonstrated the system to install the systems into beauty salons.

Jean, herself, taught in many well-established beauty colleges and health farms in the UK teaching students and teachers.

Jean also had a team of nail technicians that she organised to take space doing the nails in hairdressing salons and nail bars in and around London.

Nail extensions became so popular that it was soon proved itself to be the only segment of the beauty business where one could run a business solely doing nail extensions,  backed by the fact that clients were returning every two to three weeks for their infills, it was then realised that a substantial business could be achieved. This was not only very social but most lucrative.

Jean was one of the original founders to bring nail extensions into the UK and Fancy Fingers participated in trade exhibitions in Olympia along side the beauty industry, nail extensions soon became so popular that nails soon had their own trade exhibitions and glossy magazines.

Today, nail technicians like to make nails as long as possible made from a coloured paste, painted often a different colour for each nail all the colours of the rainbow. Glitter polish is offered together with nail art. They can also pop off very easily and when doing so can damage the natural nail underneath.

This is fine for those who want it, but there are also many ladies that prefer nail looking nails, salons that are using the coloured paste technique will never be able to produce natural looking nails.

The Fancy Fingers system is different, we use a tip that is blended into the natural nail  taken to the length required and shaped, so it looks like your own, it is then coated with three layers of gel, each one that is cured under the ultra violet light. The finish looks just like your own natural nail coated with clear nail varnish.

Jean says, if I had a pound for every time someone has said to me, “but you don’t need nail extensions you have lovely nails of your own” I then tell them that I have been wearing nail extensions for the last twenty years and more.
